Commitment to conservation:
Snake Dog LLC is committed to the humane treatment of rattlesnakes and their natural ecosystem.
We recognize all animals, rattlesnakes included, as invaluable members of our natural ecosystem. As such, snakes are never harmed or killed.
Snake Dog LLC incorporates several techniques to ensure the well-being of both our clients and rattlesnakes and strives to protect their natural environment.
Rattlesnakes are always re-released in their original, or suitable, habitat.
Why use a canine to Locate rattlesnakes?
Simply put, you are far more likely to find them.
The canine nose is a far superior tool for locating a rattlesnake than the combination of human eyes and ears. We've known dogs to detect the presence of rattlesnakes and subsequently locate them from a half mile away. Black Labs have a natural hunt drive, and Mystique's particular breeding and training make her amazing at her job.
What is the handler's job?
The handler's primary job is to ensure the safety of their canine teammate, and that the location has been thoroughly searched.
Our dogs have been trained to detect the presence of rattlesnakes, to locate their position to within 10 feet, and to indicate to the handler that they have done so. At this point their job is done, and they are rewarded for doing it. It is the job of the handler, or a wrangler working alongside the handler, to remove and relocate the rattlesnake.
